This is a DEFENDER 90 Short Chase 3 door with a 2.0-liter petrol four-cylinder P300 makes 296bhp under the hood.

The new Defender carries forward the older SUV’s legendary capability. Land Rover said the Defender can ford up to 36 inches of water and has up to 11.5 inches of ground clearance thanks to an available air suspension that’s team with adaptive dampers.

To emphasise on the car’s off-road capabilities, and guided by a mission to make it look “tough but approachable”, The Land Rover team of McGovern sought to leave many of the fixtures and fittings – from the door handles to door bolts on the interior – visible. They also opted for details such as an inset bonnet over a clamshell arrangement, a side-hinged boot and the option of a spare wheel on the back. The vast flat-top dashboard, cast from magnesium alloy, is a structural part of the car and is set low to boost visibility. It is also notable for its structural grab handles that give occupants a constant visual reminder of the car’s go-anywhere ability.
